Coconut peel in an aquarium
An originally decorated aquarium is often compared to a work of art. But this is not surprising - the aquarium is capable of delivering spiritual satisfaction both in the process of its creation and with subsequent contemplation. And do-it-yourself aquarium decorations are always original and unique.
Decorations can be made from a variety of materials, the main thing in this matter is to make sure that the scenery material does not release any chemical compounds into the water that are toxic to fish and other aquarium inhabitants. As a rule, organic materials and minerals containing carbonates are not used for making decorations: the former are prone to decay, and the latter increase the rate of temporary hardness of aquarium water. Of the rocks in the aquarium, granite and basalt are absolutely safe, and of natural materials, the shell of a coconut is completely safe and easily accessible. This material does not decay and does not require long and complicated preparation before being placed in the aquarium. A variety of grottoes, shelters for fish and pots for aquatic plants are made from coconut shells, because coconut shells in the aquarium do not collapse and always look natural!
Decorations from coconut shells are easy to make - you need a few ripe coconuts, pliers, a hacksaw for cutting metals, a drill and a knife.
Saw off about a third of the nut with a hacksaw, pour out the milk, and then carefully and without haste, separate the flesh of the nut from the shell with slices using a knife. Give the coconut shell slice the desired shape with pliers.
If you decide to use coconut peel in the aquarium as pots, drill additional holes in the bottom of the nuts for free circulation of water. Such pots are very convenient - you can put any soil and fertilizer in the form of tablets or balls into them, such pots are easily removed from the aquarium for transplanting the plant, pruning it, and any other operations.
Fresh coconut shell colors the water brown; to avoid such tinting, the decorations made should be kept for several hours in boiling water, changing it several times.
In the scenery - shelters from a coconut shell, labeos, ancistruses, cichlids and some other fish like to hide, and from a few coconuts you can easily create an original composition only by showing your imagination.
By placing your own handmade coconut decorations in your tropical tropical pond, you can continue to regularly receive aesthetic pleasure from contemplating your little corner of the underwater world.
